reasons for having breast augmentation surgery

Chit chat between five female friends helped them uncover a common secret desire. Each woman had her own myths about the meaning of breast augmentation surgery.

Each woman had her own reasons for having breast augmentation surgery.  An article by Antonia Hoyle in “Mail Online” tells the story of each of these friends and their secret desires.

reasons for having breast augmentation surgery

Here’s what Faye has to say about her  self reflection and insight:

“A to a DD cup.

She says: ’As a teenager, I hated my breasts. I tried to make the best of them, disguising my lack of cleavage with ‘chicken fillet’ bust enhancers stuffed inside my bras. They were uncomfortable and, when it was hot, they’d get sweaty and slip out.

‘I loved my job as a veterinary assistant, but having tiny breasts meant I had little confidence.

‘My love life was affected. If I did meet someone I liked, I was terrified that once our relationship got physical they’d feel I’d duped them with padded bras. Men would say I had a pretty face, but it was a shame about my lack of boobs.

‘I longed to do something about it, but to me cosmetic surgery was something only celebrities had. It just wasn’t part of my world.

‘When I was 23, a woman I worked with told me she’d had breast implants. I was stunned by how natural they looked and realised that someone ordinary like me could get them done, too.

‘I longed to do something about it, but to me cosmetic surgery was something only celebrities had. It just wasn’t part of my world.’

‘Within months, I’d taken out a loan and had the operation. After the operation, I was in terrible pain. It felt as if an elephant was sitting on my chest.

‘For three weeks I could barely get dressed or even out of bed. I think it took me longer to recover because I had gone for bigger implants.

‘A year later, I met Nathan in a bar. Before the operation, I’d never have had the courage to chat to him. The implants made an incredible difference to my confidence.

‘Nathan loved my breasts. When I had our daughters, I was still able to breast-feed.

‘I was thrilled to be able to recommend the operation to my friends, but implants do have their downsides.

‘I can’t sleep on my stomach and my skin has stretched so much that if I were to have the implants removed there would be just empty, sagging bits of skin. So, I’ll be an 80-year-old with great boobs’ ”

Be sure and read the stories from Sarah, Emma, Kerry, and Katie. Each has a slightly different motivation for choosing breast augmentation surgery. Each of the friends has a slightly different process when choosing to have her breast augmentation surgery.

plastic surgery during college

The voice of Dixie State College of Utah:” Dixie Sun” published an article “plastic surgery solution for some, access for others”. The author is Alissa Curto. She focused on a specific niche: plastic surgery during college. Since most college students are older than 18 years old and are generally younger than 30 years old she has defined a specific population to look at. More women are attending college than men. This fact may of influence the population sample.

Here is a sample from her articleon plastic surgery during college. The different characters contrast makes excellent reading.

plastic surgery during college

“I would never get plastic surgery myself,” said Jaron Polatis, a sophomore biology major from Rigby Idaho. “You can really tell when other people have it, and it makes them look completely fake. I don’t think it’s necessary unless somebody has gotten in an accident.”

According to the ASAPS statistics, approximately 1.6 million people underwent surgical cosmetic procedures in 2010, about 200,000 more than in 2008 and has increased more than 164 percent since 1997.

“Plastic surgery is freedom of choice and that choice should start at a legal age,” said Cory LeMieux, a junior computer engineering major from Beaver Dam, Ariz. “But I think that everyone should be proud of the natural beauty bestowed upon them.”

Though only 1 percent of young adults 18 and younger get plastic surgery, one student feels as if it’s the perfect age to start.

“Plastic surgery doesn’t change a person’s personality,” said Alexa Terakawa, a St. George Paul Mitchell hair school graduate. “It is perfectly OK [to have plastic surgery], just like men and women color their hair, put on make-up, or tattoo their skin. Eighteen should be the legal age for cosmetic purposes.”

She uses from the American Society of plastic surgery to make several powerful points. She says plastic surgery is growing in popularity. In 2010 20% of the women fewer than 34 years of age had either breast augmentation or liposuction. Also in 2010 there were 200,000 more cosmetic procedures performed in the United States then in 2008. Another interesting fact was that Salt Lake City had more plastic surgeons per population than New York City.

She asks: what silicone breast implant size is best for me?

She asks: What silicone breast implant size is best for me? My current bra size is 32 A and I want to be a full B. horror small C. cup. I would like to look natural and I don’t want to look fake. I currently weigh 88 pounds, I am 5’1″ tall and I have a petite frame.

What silicone breast implant size is best for me?

What silicone breast implant size is best for me?

Four plastic surgeons from various parts of the country provide their feedback.

Dr.  Terry Hall from Kansas City provides this feedback;

“As you may be aware bra manufacturers do not seem to be able to agree what a B, C or D cup actually is as it varies among them.  Once you have decided on the look that you are wanting your surgeon should be able to estimate the correct size and style of implant best for you.  I say estimate because I find the only accurate way to select the exact implant is when I use a temporary sizer in the operating room.

As a guess from the information given I would estimate a 300cc moderate profile implant.  But do not put much value on that until you have had an examination.”

Dr. Tom Pousti from San Diego has these comments to make;

“Unfortunately, there is no direct correlation between  the size of breast implants  and the resulting cup size.

In planning your breast augmentation procedure it will be very important to communicate your size goals with your surgeon.  in my practice I find the use of goal pictures to be very helpful.  in your case you could use your own before breast-feeding pictures as the goal. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “C cup” or “fake looking” or “top heavy” means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful.
Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup  size may also be inaccurate.”

Since she is very petite there are two keys when determining what silicone breast implant size is best for me? There are a limited number of sizes of silicon breast implants it would fit her body. The second key point is that the diameter of the breast implant must be smaller than the diameter of the breast.

Are doctors seeing more patients getting denied breast augmentation financing?

If I am going to have breast augmentation then I will need to finance.   With the current economic problems are doctors seeing more patients getting denied  breast augmentation financing?

A panel of 11 plastic surgeons from different areas around the country answered her question: “are doctors seeing more patience getting denied

breast augmentation financingIs

?” One of the plastic surgeons is very much against the use of financing.  His opinion is provided. The other 10 plastic surgeons tended to offer financing for their patience particularly care credit.

Are doctors seeing more patients getting denied breast augmentation financing?

Dr. Michael Law from Raleigh-Durham has this negative comment about financing.

“I am strongly against plastic surgery financing programs, and I have never offered them in my practice. Most, if not all, plastic surgery financing plans are not only a bad idea but also a bad deal for many patients (and, for that matter, for most doctors), in some ways that are easily apparent but in other ways that are not as obvious. The most obvious way in which these plans are unfavorable and therefore undesirable is their terms, which often are interest-free for as long as a year, but that revert to an interest rate comparable to a high interest rate credit card (i.e. an APR of 20% or more) if a patient misses or is late on a single payment.

A high interest rate is, in fact, almost a necessity for a credit product that finances a service instead of a tangible asset like a home or an automobile. A creditor can repossess a home or a car, but they can’t repossess your tummy tuck. So a high interest rate helps them hedge the risk of having no collateral.”

Dr. David Dreyfus of Chicago Illinois has this comment:

“We have continued to provide financing for our patients for Breast Augmentation and other procedures. In fact, we now have a 0 percent financing for 18 months available to our patients thru the end of the year. We have noticed a slight increase of denials, but overall our patients have been successful getting financing. Most offices have added new creative options to help their patients afford surgery.”

Please read the other comments by the other plastic surgeons

It seems that the current economic problems are affecting breast augmentation financing. There are fewer programs available at this time. Yet breast augmentation financing is available and is being offered by most plastic surgeons.

Bigger breast implants right for you?

Many women who want breast augmentation say that they want bigger breast implants. Choosing the correct size breast implant can be a challenging process. The most common reason that women have revision breast implant surgery is to adjust the size of the breast implant. In most situations that means that they want and choose  bigger breast implants.

Many women who want breast augmentation say that they want bigger breast implants. Choosing the correct size breast implant can be a challenging process. The most common reason that women have revision breast implant surgery is to adjust this size of the breast implant. In most situations that mean that they want and choose bigger breast implants.

A recent post on the site “Breast Implants” dealt with the topic is bigger breast implants right for you? The article defining a group of people in which bigger breast implants may be very appropriate. The article also defined many situations where women would be served by a more normal size.

Bigger breast implants right for you?

“Take caution in being too inspired by celebrity breast sizes as they may be ideal for their profession, but might not necessarily be desirable to you in everyday life.

If you are considering massive breast implants, some of the issues you will want to think about consist of:

* Attention. Huge breasts get attention not only from your family, buddies, co-workers, but from the public in general. Surprisingly soon after you get your breast implants, folks will tend to forget that you have breast implants and basically accept them as your own breasts. If you are comfortable with attention to your new breast size, huge breast implants could be right for you.

* Clothing. The sort and style of your fashions will change. Ideal apparel for huge breasts is substantially different from that developed for smaller breasts. Your choices in bras will turn out to be somewhat limited as well, particularly if you select a breast size of DD or bigger.

* Your Body. Larger breasts will impact your body. Women with bigger breasts often report back difficulties resulting from the weight of their breasts.. Your breast tissue and skin will also stretch so that if you desire to decrease your breast size later, the new breast implant procedure wil be much more challenging and will likely result in scarring. In addition, the weight of a massive breast implant can could trigger the entire breast to sag under the weight of the breast implant.

* Breast implant profile. If the base diameter of your breast is narrower than your desired breast implant it can impact your arm movement. Selecting a greater profile massive breast implant may possibly be needed in this case.”

Some women are clear on what size breast implants they want . Some women get the breast implant size they say they want. Once they have that implant size there may be negative unexpected consequences. They may get more attention to their breast than they desire. The clothing style may be difficult to manage with their new bigger breast implants.

So this article has divided the women’s groups into those that are likely to like the bigger breast implants. And those women who should have more normal breast implant size. A lot of focus was placed on the unintended consequences when a breast implant is too large.

Some Western cultures breast augmentation is that rite of passage

Most cultures have some sort of rite of passage. The teenager is encouraged to undergo the rite of passage and face their fears. When they return they are considered an adult. In some Western cultures breast augmentation is that rite of passage.

breast augmentation is that rite of passage

Realily…. breast augmentation is that rite of passage? Patricia Leavy, PhD has written an insightful article about the three main dangers of your teen having breast implants. This is a very insightful and wonderful article. The end result of giving your team breast implants may be something that takes away their self-esteem.

Some Western cultures breast augmentation is that rite of passage

“There are 3 main dangers for teens getting breast implants, all of which they are ill-equipped to understand and properly consider at their age: 1. physical 2. financial, and 3. emotional/psychological (seehttp://www.breastimplantinfo.org/news/teen_implants.html).

1. Physical dangers: breast development can continue into early twenties; breast augmentation has a very high complication rate often requiring additional surgeries; an increased risk of various types of cancer as well as severe depression; risk of infection and even death; breast implants interfere with mammography (obscuring more than half of all breast tumors); less likely to be able to breast feed successfully (which carries health benefits for the child); if they change their mind at any time removal of implants can cause severe sagginess which is likely to cause more body dissatisfaction; and, breast pain and loss of sensation in the nipples is common (as teenage females have not reached their sexual peak yet they may be giving up personal sexual pleasure for life before they have had a chance to understand how their body works and they are objectifying their own body).

2. Financial dangers: corrective treatments and surgical procedures can be very expensive and may occur at a time when they are financially independent (they may not realize the potential medical costs they will incur over time).

3. Emotional/psychological dangers: teenage body image dissatisfaction is likely to lessen or go away with age; parents are validating that there is something “wrong” with their daughter’s body; and, possible loss of sexual pleasure has a psychological component as young women learn to prioritize males’ viewing pleasure over their own bodily pleasure.

Looking at the preceding list of risks it is clear that these are serious consequences a teenager is unlikely to comprehend on any meaningful level. Putting this list of dangers aside though we can return most simply to the reason the mother I saw gave-in to her daughter’s breast implant request-the reason I suspect other parents do too. Young women are often teased by their peers for not measuring up to the media ideal of the body-beautiful and so they develop a poor body concept and parents want to help them. Breast implants are not the answer.

There is no quick-fix for self-esteem;”

When a culture trains its young it is preparing them for the dangers and risks of the rite of passage. When they confront those risks and overcome them they return with more self-esteem. They are than adults. Why would we think breast augmentation is that rite of passage?

When you purchase your teen breast implants they may not be able to deal with the dangers and risks. This situation can lead to loss of self-esteem. Breast augmentation is that rite of passage… how culturely blind can we be.

Breast augmentation and nose job on his daughter

Every so often there is an article that describes a plastic surgeon doing surgery on a close relative. A recent article focuses on a Newport Beach plastic surgeon who did a breast augmentation and nose job on his daughter, Brittany.

The wisdom of doing breast augmentation and nose job on his daughter on one’s own daughter can be debated. Dr. Michael Niccole discusses his perspective in The Orange County Register.

Breast augmentation and nose job on his daughter

“But Dr. Michael Niccole’s story includes an interesting twist.

His patients have included his own daughter, Brittani.

Niccole, a board certified plastic surgeon, told The Orange County Register that he performed a breast augmentation on Brittani, now 23, when she was 19 years old.

Then, a week before she turned 21, he also gave her a nose job.

Brittani Niccole, a makeup artist and model, went from an A cup to a C cup, and is very pleased with the results.

“I consider the day I got my breasts done one of the best days of my life so far,” she said.

Brittani Niccole said she didn’t consider going to any other doctor: “It never crossed my mind.”

Niccole said he wasn’t nervous about operating on his own daughter. He’s performed plastic surgery on several family members, as well as office staffers, he said. (The latter includes “The Real Housewives of Orange County” cast member Alexis Bellino.)

“I have no qualms,” he said. “I feel very comfortable in surgery, and I always have with relatives.”

How rare is that?

“I would probably say yes, it’s unusual,” he said.

But, he added, “To find another surgeon that I feel 100 % confident to do what I do after 30 years …

“I wanted a meticulous, perfect result.””

Breast augmentation and nose job on his daughter

One of the important aspects of doing  breast augmentation and nose job on his daughter is communication. My own daughters have told me that our communication at times of stress can be heightened. They tell me that my tone can trigger all kinds of reactions. I would propose that  father daughter’s communication often falls in this category.

Surgery at the best of times can be unpredictable. There is clearly a risk.

When your wife or girlfriend is considering getting breast implants

When your wife or girlfriend is considering getting breast implants what does this mean about your relationship? Many men wonder who she’s doing it for? A recent survey showed that 98% of women have breast implants for their own reasons.

Deciding to have breast implants is a process. There are many things the male can do to participate.

When your wife or girlfriend is considering getting breast implants

Dr. John W. Bass has written a thoughtful article explaining how the male can be supportive.

When your wife or girlfriend is considering getting breast implants

“To help your lady through her breast augmentation, below are some tips we think you will find useful:

  • Offer to go to the consultation with your wife or girlfriend to support her and to get answers to specific questions you may have for the surgeon. Be sure to ask the surgeon how you can help make her recovery as comfortable as possible.
  • Research breast augmentation on your own so that you better understand the process. (Be sure your research is obtained from reputable sources.)
  • Remember that most women have breast augmentation to feel better about themselves. Try to curb your jealousy and do not assume your wife or girlfriend wants to get breast implants just to attract other men.
  • Do not ask questions about scarring. It’s insensitive to fuss about scars that will fade over time.
  • Encourage your significant other to talk openly about getting breast implants if she wants to, even if it makes you uncomfortable.
  • Do not discuss breast size with her. For this decision, it’s best to keep your comments and opinions to yourself.

Most women have breast implants to feel better about them. It is wise to give feedback when asked about breast size. When your wife or girlfriend is considering getting breast implants it is not generally a smart move to encourage your wife or girlfriend to have a specific size.

  • Do not talk about how her breasts look right after surgery. The implants may be very firm and high right after the procedure is completed, but they will drop to a normal position.
  • Breasts will be sore after surgery, so don’t touch them until she says it’s okay to do so.
  • Be as kind as possible to her after surgery – a thoughtful get-well gift can go a long way!
  • Be aware of her mood following surgery. She may appear to be subdued rather than excited, but this is often due to reactions to the anesthesia, side effects from medication or anxiety.”
  1. Most women have breast implants to feel better about them. It is wise to give feedback when asked about breast size. When your wife or girlfriend is considering getting breast implants it is not generally a smart move to encourage your wife or girlfriend to have a specific size.

In the days right after breast augmentation the breasts are often high and swollen. It is not smart to comment on how they look during this time. This woman is likely to be sensitive enough during this period of time.

Will My Breasts Ever Looked Normal? They Are Really High

A recent article explores the issue; “will my breasts ever looked normal? They are really high.”

Will my breasts ever looked normal? They are really high

” She is 5’4″ tall and weighs 115 pounds. She had her surgery nine days ago. The implant used was a silicone gel placed under the muscle with the volume of 492 cc. There are no pictures provided.

Will My Breasts Ever Looked Normal? They Are Really High

Comments are provided by three different plastic surgeons. Here are some of their comments about will my breasts ever looked normal? They are really high:

Dr. Ronald Schuster of Baltimore has this to say:

“It’s impossible to tell without photos. two things for sure, there is still a good amount of swelling and it takes about 1-2 months for the implants to settle. The other is that you got pretty big implants for someone 5’4″ and 115 lbs.”

Dr. Tom Pousti of San Diego responds:

“It is not uncommon for patients to feel that their breast implants are “riding high” and are somewhat “squareish” looking 9 days after surgery. It takes time for the lesson plans to settle/drop/“fluff out”. This time require may be several months. I think you will be pleasantly surprised that as implants settle down with time they will round out in appearance.”

It is very common early after surgery to have implants that are really high. I would expect herto have concerns  will my breasts ever looked normal? They are really high. Because she has larger size breast implants it will take longer for them to settle.

The most appropriate thing for her to do is to return to her plastic surgeon and ask him or her the question will my breasts ever looked normal? They are really high.

Breast implant capsular contracture

and a breast implant capsule? What is the cause of breast implant capsular contracture? What can be done to prevent Capsular Contracture? These Issues Were Explored In Breast Implants Blog.

No one knows the cause of breast implant capsular contracture. All the Risk Factors Are Guesses.

Difference between a breast implant capsular contracture and a breast implant capsule

“Regular healing vs. hardening

Your body’s natural response to breast implants is to form a protective lining around them, known as a capsule. This is a good factor, and helps keep them in precisely where you want them.

If that protective lining tightens or thickens, it is referred to as capsular contracture. It makes your breast challenging, and it can distort its shape. It can also be very painful.

Why some breasts harden and some do not

Doctors do not know for positive why some ladies expertise capsular contracture and other people never have a problem, but they have narrowed it down to some risk aspects which includes:

· Autoimmune disorders

· Smoking

· Radiation therapy

· Severe trauma to the breast

· Hematoma

· Seroma

· Bacteria and infections

· Silicone molecules leaching into the capsule

Lowering your danger for capsular contracture

There are some alternatives you can make relating to your implants and the type of surgery you have, and some issues that you can do at home which could aid to prevent the dilemma.

· Vitamin E

Taking Vitamin E can speed healing, reduce scaring, and help keep the capsule soft. It can also boost bleeding and shouldn’t be started proper away. Ask your cosmetic surgeon when you need to start taking it and how significantly will be safe and effective for you.

· “No touch” surgery

The no touch approach is utilised to stop even the smallest amount of bacteria acquiring in and being sealed in with your implant.
