Implant Size

Sizing implants

Choosing your perfect breast augmentation size is the result of what you do before you visit the plastic surgeon as well as what happens in the office. There are steps that you can take before the consultation with the plastic surgeon that will help you choosing your perfect breast implant size.

Reflection on your situation is the ideal first thing to do. You may want to ask yourself the following questions. What were my breasts like in the past and what happened to change them? Did they change after pregnancy or weight loss? When I look at my breasts now what are the things that I would like to improve? What do I want?

The next step is to do some measurements and write the measurements down. The key measurement is the width of the breast. This measurement is usually done in centimeters. Write down the width of the right breast as well width of the left breast. You may also want to write down skin status   and the breast shape. Is there loose skin and is there any breast sag?

The key thing to remember is that the width of the breast has to be greater than the width of the implant. What this means is that wider breasts can   hold larger implants.

Width         Usual size Ranges

  • 13 cm         300=400 cc
  • 14 cm         325- 425cc
  • 15 cm         350- 450cc

The Ziploc process is a very useful thing to do at home specially knowing the above information can make it very valuable. This process allows you to approximate breast implant volume changes. What you need is:  quart size Ziploc bagsabout 3 pounds of rice, and a large glass-measuring cup. The glass-measuring cup will have measurements in ounces as well as measurement in milliliters. The milliliter measurements are exactly the same thing as cc. For example 350 mL measurement equals 350 cc. When you put the rice in the bag make sure you squeeze out the air before closing the Ziploc bag. Of course you need a sports bra to put the filled Ziploc bags in. Have fun!

After you have gone through the above steps then you have prepared yourself for your consultation visit with the plastic surgeon. What you’ll find is a plastic surgeon’s office consultation will involve essentially the same steps as you did at home.

Doing the above steps will help you in choosing your perfect breast augmentation size.
